Nonsense
When you know not where
to go, stumble blindly into
the abyss of time, if
all is lost to that time which
hurtles forward with
no heed to you or
to anything, just how
the leaves fall and
the clock ticks along to
its own nonsense rhythm.
Simplicity
The things we know for certain
are the things we ought to question most
for once we raise the dusty curtain
we'll truly see the world's host
a vampire that sucks not blood, but complicity
until we are too weary to ask why
and we lean more towards simplicity
increasingly until we die.
Seeking
Even with all the passing time
there is not a way to know every rhyme
or note, tear, word, voice, sense
as we only see through a lens,
a lens that fogs with our breath.
We are ever-seeking to know
what else here we may sew
to stamp our legacy in fire and earth
laying foundation for the hearth
where two elements collide.
Gaining
Not all is lost, though
We find more than we lose
We learn, teach, and learn again
An endless cycle that gains momentum
Growing larger, faster, like a snowball
rolling down an endless hill
with endless snow to grasp onto.
While some snow may be left behind
with each turn over, overall it gains mass
meaning potential is limitless
if we reach to get it within our grasp.
Understanding
Once we touch the untouched snow
we know
that any knowledge, however deep
is fleeting, at best, as melting snow seeps
through our fingers, away from us
escaping slowly back to dust
But we must only reach again
to fulfill the end, to begin
it is never-ending, but so are we
through millenia, we continue to be
struck by awe, wonder, and curious nature
though we don't know our fate for sure
we keep going, curiosity abound
learning a bit more each time around
new understanding, fresh blooms
even as darker fates may loom
we continue on, our cause noble
each moment become more mobile
to run, and leap, and draw again
to understand is to only begin.
